Pen Work #1

I used the pen tool to make a straight line from the middle of the left side to the top, held shift and made the first sharp dip. I then made the rest of the image using the pen too, making curves.

Pen Tool Intro 1-4 (4)

In this lesson I used the pen tool to create a circle. I clicked on point 1, dragged the line to reach point A, and then clicked point 2, creating a smooth curve. I continued using this method on all other points, to make a circle.

Pen Tool

Using the pen tool I created a square around the border. Then, I filled the square with green and used a stroke path to make the border pink. I used the same methods for the square in the center, except for using different colors.

You are Stronger Than You Think

#1 - Appreciation of Beauty & Excellence

You notice and appreciate beauty, excellence, and/or skilled performance in all domains of life, from nature to art to mathematics to science to everyday experience.

#2 - Bravery

You are a courageous person who does not shrink from threat, challenge, difficulty, or pain. You speak up for what is right even if there is opposition. You act on your convictions.

#3 - Creativity

Thinking of new ways to do things is a crucial part of who you are. You are never content with doing something the conventional way if a better way is possible.

Quote for #1 - Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence:
"Next to excellence is the appreciation of it" - William Makepeace Thackeray

My reaction to my strengths -
I am not majorly surprised to the strengths listed, however, I was not expecting appreciation of beauty and excellence to be my top strength. Now that it was chosen for me I believe that it makes sense for me. I really do try to find the positive and beauty in everything, I guess I had not realized that before.

Gradient Mask

Gradient Mask Lesson -
The first image was made from 2 preselected photos supplied. I used a mask gradient to fill darker portions of the purple flower's image with the pink flower image. I then cleaned up smaller areas with a smaller brush.
Images 2 and 3 were located online and done in the same manner as the first image. A gradient mask was applied to a majority of the image to and the rest was cleaned up with a small brush.

Cut and Paste Head Practice

Head Swap Lesson -
In this lesson, I downloaded a picture of Superman and Superwoman and opened both up in photoshop. I then selected an area around Superman's head, and copied the selection onto the Superwoman document. I then lined up Superman's head with Superwoman by reducing the opacity of the layer and scaling the image down. With the opacity still lowered, I erased excess hair and such around Superman's head. I then adjusted the color a little.

Changing Eye Color

Changing Eye Color lesson -
In today's lesson, we learned how to change the color of our eyes. To do this, make a new layer, then select the circular marquee tool, and make a circular selection around the pupils. Fill with a desired color (-> edit -> fill) and in the layers panel select the overlay option and adjust opacity as needed. Then, clean up any edges of the filled circle around the eyes to better match the pupil's size.

I used the same method here to change Oprah's eye color. I then went over her hair with the same purple color and cleaned the edges up with a mask.

Layers/Grid

Layers/Grid Lesson -
For this lesson I loaded the photoshop document which contained all images needed. Then, for each image (which was a separate layer for each) I converted each to a smart object (right click layer -> smart object) and scaled each to fit a corner square in the preset grid layout.

Warp

Warp Lesson -
In this lesson I used the pre-selected image and went to edit->transform->warp. I made sure the "switch between free transform and warp" option was selected, and then changed the preset from "custom" to flag. The preset was a little intense so I selected the second transform dot on (top row) and moved it up to decrease the wave a bit. Enter to place, and then added a shadow.
To add a shadow, I selected "fX" on the bottom of the layers panel. Then, I selected the drop shadow option and adjusted the softness and placement.

Content Aware Scale

Content Aware Scale lesson -
For this assignment, I opened the pre-chosen image of people on a beach. I went to edit->content aware scale, and then dragged the left center point towards the center. This moved the girl in the white dress on the left closer to the center.
Since the algorithm is not perfect, a line was visible where the image scaled between the group and the woman. To fix this I used the clone stamp tool to repair the line and make everything look natural.

Elements of CRAP Video

Elements of C.R.A.P. Video- This video was so much fun to do. I actually got a chance to use new software I had no prior knowledge about, which was Sony Vegas. I used that program to edit the video. As for what I did in the video, I acted in it and also edited the final video. I really liked making the video and hope to make one again soon!
